TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Hannah Stevens picked a great time to score her first goal of the season as the Tiffin University women's soccer team (2-1-1 GLIAC, 2-3-2) beat Saginaw Valley State (1-3 GLIAC, 2-3) 1-0 Friday afternoon at Paradiso Fields.

With the win and losses by Findlay and Ashland, the Dragons are in first place in the GLIAC South Division.

It was a rough and physical game with a total of 33 fouls being called. At the 70:26 mark, junior Lesley Dotson put up a long pass downfield that senior Shelly Rogers headed over to Stevens. She then slid the ball into the lower right corner.

With 1:39 left in the game, Samantha Echols got past the defense and blasted a shot at goal. Junior Lindsey Gallagher made a diving save to preserve the victory.

For Tiffin, they had 12 shots with five on goal, three corner kicks and were called for 13 fouls. Gallagher finished with five saves.

For Saginaw Valley State, they had 14 shots with five on goal, two corner kicks and were called for 20 fouls.
