
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Tiffin University baseball team (25-25) made just one error, however it was a costly one as it fell 3-2 to Lake Erie (27-24) at the GLIAC Tournament, Wednesday evening at V.A. Memorial Stadium. The Dragons will face Grand Valley State (38-13), Thursday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m.
In the fifth inning, junior Kyle Robinson went all the way to third after his ball was misplayed. Senior Val Helldobler lifted a deep fly to center field that scored Robinson. Lake Erie came back with a run in the bottom of the fifth.
In the eighth, junior Ryan Williams singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Williams went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by freshman Derek Koch. In the ninth, the Storm had runners at the corners with one out. The Dragons misplayed a ball hit by the Storm and both runners scored to end the game.
For Tiffin, senior Jordan Liette (6-6) gave up eight hits, three runs, two of them earned, walked two and struck out seven in 8.3 innings.
For Lake Erie, Matt Toth had two hits. Brian Kilway (6-1) gave up four hits, two runs, one earned, walked six and struck out one in nine innings.
