The Tiffin University baseball team powered past the Hillsdale Chargers on Sunday afternoon, relying on their pitching staff to baffle the opposition.

Game One

Luke Fraley has had an excellent start to his season thus far, and not much changed when he went to the rubber on Sunday. Fraley's offense spotted him an early lead with a run in the bottom of the 1st. With two down in Tiffin's half of the 1st, Jay Smith sliced a triple past Hillsdale's diving center fielder, and trotted home on Alec McCurry's single to right field.

Through the first three innings, Hillsdale mustered only an infield single off Fraley, as he sliced and diced his way through the order. Luke tossed five shutout innings, allowing four hits, walking a batter, and striking out six. In the bottom of the 5th, Tiffin's Luke Brust led off with a single to left field. After the next two batters were retired, Jay Smith worked his magic again, cracking a double to left field to make it 2-0 Dragons.

Borst stranded a runner at third in the 6th, and received some insurance from his offense. In the bottom of the 6th, with a man aboard and two outs, Kyle Lento clubbed a two run home run to left field to give the Dragons a 4-0 lead. Hillsdale tied the game with a pair of runs in the 3rd on two hits and an error. The tie score was gone in a flash, as the Dragons plated a run in their half of the 3rd on two hits and an error. Back to back singles by Smith and Fisk put two aboard for Tiffin. The Chargers were in the giving mood in the 3rd inning, handing Tiffin a 3-2 lead with a balk to score Smith.
