New Orleans Saints' young tailbacks,
P.J. Hill or
Chris Ivory,
outshined the other Saturday night. But they both got extended
auditions for roster spots, with a healthy amount of highlights for
both of them.

New
Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory had 20 carries for 66 yards,
converted a fourth-and-3 but was stuffed twice at the goal line in the
fourth quarter against the Houston Texans in a preseason game Saturday
night at the Superdome.
Ivory,
an undrafted rookie from Tiffin, got the most action, carrying the ball
20 times for 66 yards (a 3.3-yard average). He got seven carries for 29
yards (a 4.1 average) in the second quarter against some first-string
defenders. He also converted a fourth-and-3 with a 3-yard gain in the
fourth quarter. But he was stuffed twice at the goal line in the fourth
quarter when he tried to punch the ball in for a touchdown.
Hill gained 32 yards on six carries (a 5.3 average) and gained 14
yards on three receptions. He left the game with a left leg injury but
appeared to be OK and walked off the field on his own power.
Payton said he thought both tailbacks ran hard and gained extra
yards on some plays, but that they "got off their landmarks and took
some minus plays" on others. He said he'd offer a more complete review
after watching the video.
