[Tiffin] Kidz Day promotion planned Feb. 11

Tiffin University will be promoting a Kidz Day on Feb. 11 in conjunction with the men's and women's basketball doubleheader against Hillsdale College.

There will be free admission for all kids (grades 2-8), with parents paying half price. Drop off time is 1 pm with pick-up immediately after the men's game beginning at 3 pm. There will be autograph signing at halftime and post women's game. All kids are encouraged to wear green and gold along with their tennis shoes. Pizza will be provided for all kids.

[Men's Wrestling] Cramer Earns All-GLIAC Honors in Wrestling

ASHLAND, Ohio - Freshmen Jake Cramer (174-lbs) went 2-1 and earned All-GLIAC second team honors as the Tiffin University wrestling team (2-9) placed fourth at the GLIAC Championships Sunday afternoon at Kates Gymnasium. The Dragons lost 39-3 to #12 Ashland (7-1), 38-7 to #19 Findlay (8-5) and 34-7 to Lake Erie (7-9).

GENEVA, Ohio - The Tiffin University men's and women's track and field team made its presence known with a pair of second place finishes at the NCAA DII Challenge, Saturday. The Dragons had 35 top 10 finishes and 14 additions to the top 10 list while winning five events.

ASHLAND, Ohio - Senior Karl Finley scored 24 points as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (10-13, 4-11 GLIAC) took a tough 73-68 loss to Ashland (13-8, 8-6 GLIAC), Saturday afternoon at Kates Gymnasium.

[Women's Basketball] 6th-ranked Eagles soar past Dragons

Things went from bad to worse between the first half and second half of Tiffin's road trip to Ashland University, as the 6th-ranked Eagles opened with a solid first half lead and pushed it even larger in a 90-50 win over the Dragons.

Ashland led 44-29 at the half, taking advantage of 37 percent field goal shooting by TU to post the comfortable lead. But things got worse after the intermission, as TU fell off to 23 percent shooting and the Eagles improved to 54 percent in putting the Dragons away.

The Eagles also held a 47-35 rebounding edge and outscored TU 46-21 in the final 20 minutes.

Mandy Jaeb was the only starter in double figures, totaling 16 points. Jillian Adams had 10 points off the bench along with 5 rebounds while Jennifer Johnston had 8 points. Jessica Harris was the top rebounder with 7.

TU now returns home for two key GLIAC games against Findlay Thursday night at 6 pm and Hillsdale on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 pm.

[Men's Wrestling] Dragons prepare for first-ever GLIAC Duals

This Sunday (Feb. 5, 10 a.m.), Ashland University hosts the first-ever GLIAC wrestling championships. AU, Findlay, Lake Erie and Tiffin make up the field in this initial league tournament. A year from now, Notre Dame will join the fray as an associate GLIAC member.

"There has been interest for a few years now so the conference membership decided to step up and do it," said GLIAC commissioner Dell Robinson, who will be in Ashland for the championships. "The sport is strong at the high school level in Ohio as well as Michigan, so we have a great feeder."

Ashland is the tournament's top seed and is ranked 12^th in the nation. Findlay is the second seed and ranked 19^th in the country. Lake Erie is the third seed and Tiffin is seeded fourth.

[Men's Golf] Men's golf seniors lead the way in 2012

TIFFIN, Ohio - Jason Crow, Blake DeBruyn, Justin Epure, Dillon Klein and John Rice enter the twilight of their golfing careers at Tiffin University in the spring of 2012.

Crow, a native of Leipsic, Ohio, garnered his first top-10 finish at the Kyle Ryman Memorial on October 17, 2011. He is majoring in Management.

DeBruyn, a native of Kloof, South Africa, placed eighth at the GLIAC Championships on October 3, 2011 as the Dragon had a best ever second place finish. He also won the Kyle Ryman Memorial on October 17, 2011, one of three top finishes this season. DeBruyn was second on the team in 2010-11 with a 75.66 stroke average and earned All-GLIAC Honorable Mention honors. He is majoring in Sport and Recreation Management.

Epure, a native of Cincinnati, cracked the top 10 for the first time with a seventh place finish at the Findlay Invitational on October 9, 2011. The following week, he was seventh again, this time at the Kyle Ryman Memorial. Epure is majoring in Sport and Recreation Management.

Klein, a native of Delphos, Ohio, placed seventh at the GLIAC Championships on October 3, 2011 as the Dragons had a best ever second place finish. He has placed among the top 10 in four tournaments this season including a runner-up performance at the Kyle Ryman Memorial on October 17, 2011. Klein has led the team the last two seasons in stroke average at 73.60 (2009-10) and 74.58 (2010-11). He is a two-time All-GLIAC second team and a two-time All-GLIAC Academic selection. Klein is majoring in Management.

Rice, a native of Sunbury, Ohio, has earned All-GLIAC Academic honors the last two seasons. He is majoring in Communication.

[Baseball] Curtin Earns All-Midwest Region Pre-Season Honors

TIFFIN, Ohio - Senior Pat Curtin has been selected to the NCBWA Division II Pre-Season All-Midwest Region second team. He was one of only three players from schools in Ohio to earn honors.

[Men's Golf] TU golf offers winter clinic

Tiffin University's men's golf program will hold its 2012 Winter Golf Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 11 am to 2:30 pm. Registration begins at 10:30 am in the Gillmor Center. The clinic is for boys and girls aged 6-18 and costs $15. Coaches are free.

Instruction will cover all facets of the golf swing and playing fundamentals, including a rules session. Pre-registration is not required and walk-ins are welcome. TIFFIN, Ohio - Sophomore Joe Graessle and senior Travis Spahr each scored at least 28 points as the Tiffin University men's basketball team (10-12) beat Notre Dame College (6-13) 94-81, Wednesday evening at the Gillmor Center.

[Football] Tiffin University signs 27 football standouts

The Tiffin University Dragons Football program announces the signing of a 2012 recruiting class of 29 student-athletes, including three student-athletes transferring to attend Tiffin University. The class is filled with 12 All-State, 20 All-Region, and 26 All-Conference players.

[Softball] Dragons picked to win in GLIAC softball poll

The head softball coaches of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) chose Grand Valley State University and Tiffin University to win the league's 2012 North Division and South Division titles, respectively.

This year's crop of GLIAC Softball talent will try to duplicate to Conference's recent success that includes Saginaw Valley State University's trip to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship last season. League teams will battle for supremacy throughout the regular season before they travel to Findlay, Ohio for the annual GLIAC Softball Tournament (April 27-29) at the Marathon Diamonds.

Grand Valley State University was picked atop the North Division with 24 points and four of sixfirst-place votes while Tiffin University was picked first in the South Division with 23 points and four first-place nods.

[Tiffin] Grembo, Mast named December Scholar Athletes

Tiffin University's Emmanual Grembo and Karli Mast have been named December Scholar Athletes of the Month. The duo were selected by the Scholar Athlete Committee.

Grembo, a track and field standout, is ranked first in the GLIAC in the 60 meter dash while also ranking 16th overall in NCAA Division II in the same event. He was recently named GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week. He has a 3.29 GPA in International Business.

Mast, meanwhile, helped lead the Dragons to a 6-3 mark in December as the Lady Dragons battle for the top spot in the GLIAC South. She is second in overall scoring and leads the team in three pointers. She has a 3.92 GPA and is majoring in Finance.

[Track & Field] Pemberton named GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week

University of Findlay senior John Guagenti (Bluffton, Ohio) and Tiffin University senior John Pemberton (Ironton, Ohio) have been chosen as the GLIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week."

John Pemberton shattered the school record at the Findlay Indoor Classic. Pemberton won the shot put with a toss of 57 feet, 3.5 inches. He also hit the NCAA Division II Provisional mark while breaking his own school record set last year and leading the Dragons to 57 top 10 finishes and nine additions to the top 10 list.

FINDLAY, Ohio - John Pemberton (shot put) broke the school record and hit the NCAA Division II Provisional mark for the Tiffin University men's and women's track and field team at the Findlay Indoor Classic, Saturday. The Dragons had 57 top 10 finishes and nine additions to the top 10 list.
