Last Matchup: The Dragons and Eagles met last February in the final regular season game for both programs. The Eagles dropped Tiffin 78-67, as Ashland hit 10% more of their field goals than Tiffin, and held a 40-28 lead in points in the paint.
Eagles: Ashland is 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the GLIAC. The Eagles are 4-2 in their last six games, and went 2-0 last week with a pair of GLIAC wins. Ashland dominated both Wayne State and Davenport, defeating the two teams by a combined 42 points.
He's Back: Wendell Davis leads Ashland in points per game (21.7), shots per game (13.6), made field goals (7.5), made three pointers (2.9), and three point attempts (5.9). Davis is 30th in the nation in points per game, 22nd in total points, and field goals made.
Heartbreaker: The Dragons could've easily finished last week 2-0, having led for a large portion of their game with Davenport, and running neck-and-neck with Wayne State. Tiffin's 10-point lead in the 2nd half turned into a 16-point final deficit as Tiffin allowed 54 2nd half points to Davenport on Thursday night. On Saturday, the Dragons fell in their final possession, missing a go ahead triple as time expired to fall 58-56.
Built With Boards And Defense: Ashland leads the GLIAC in defensive boards per game, snagging 27.7 per contest. Nationally, the Eagles are 44th in rebounding margin at +6.2, and are 42nd in scoring defense allowing the opposition 67.7 points per game.
Defense With The Feet Not The Hands: The Eagles are committing only 12 personal fouls per game, fewest in the GLIAC and 21st in the nation.
Brown Inching Closer: Alex Brown has already eclipsed 1,000 career points earlier this year, becoming the 31st player in Tiffin history to do so. Currently he has 1,068 career points, ranking 28th in Tiffin history, needing nine more points to move to 27th. Brown has 440 career rebounds, sitting 19th in Tiffin history. Brown will move to 18th with seven more boards. Brown is 9th all-time in career steals with 125, needing two more to move to 8th. If Brown can reach 500 career rebounds, he would be only the 9th player in Tiffin history to accrue 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. Alex can also become the first player in Tiffin history to score 1,000 points, grab 500 rebounds, and dish out 200 career assists.
