To honor the National Runner-up finish by the Men's Indoor Track and Field team at the NCAA Division II National Indoor Championships held at Pittsburg State March 9-10, a Celebration Week will be held from March 12-16 to honor their top accomplishments.
The Dragons were runner-up to Pittsburg State by one point at the championships, continuing a run of excellence over the last three years that has included two NCAA Indoor National Championships and 39 All American Indoor citations over that period.
Today's honoree is pole vaulter Davis Bowers. Bowers earned First Team All American status with a 3rd place finish at the National Championships. His mark of 5.25 meters shattered the school record and equaled the mark hit by both the national champion and the runner-up finisher. Bowers also had the third best mark in the Midwest Region heading into nationals. He is also a three-time placer at the GLIAC tournament, improving from 5th place in 2016 to 3rd in 2017 and taking 2nd this season.
