Dragons Gearing Up For GLIAC South Games

The Tiffin University women's basketball team finished last week 1-1, falling to Ferris State and then defeating Lake Superior State University on Saturday. Tiffin will welcome in Davenport on Thursday and then take to the road again with a matchup against Wayne State University.

Series Record: The Dragons and Panthers have never met on the hardwood, as the Panthers have made the transition from NAIA to NCAA this season.

Sputtering Panthers: Davenport is 1-6 this season and has lost four straight games. The Panthers narrowly fell to Purdue Northwest 63-59 and were destroyed by Grand Valley State 75-41. The Panthers are averaging only 58.1 points per game and are being outscored by 8.8 points per game. 

Too Much Distance: The Panthers are shooting only 26.4% from beyond the arc, the worst in the GLIAC. 

Way Back In The Pack: Offensively the Panthers are last or next to last in three-point field goal percentage, points per game, free throws made per game, free throw attempts per game, turnovers per game, and opponent's three-point percentage. 

Few And Far Between: The Dragons are 283rd in free throw attempts and 272nd in made free throws. But when they've gotten to the line they've had success, nailing 76.8% of their attempts.

Series Record: The Warriors hold a slim 8-7 lead since Tiffin began competing in the GLIAC in 2008.

Attacking The Rim: The Wayne State Warriors are averaging 84.8 points per game, ranking 10th in the nation. The Warriors are 17th in field goal percentage, 17th in three point makes, and 19th in three point makes per game. 

Soft Schedule: Wayne State has beaten six teams this season, with two having NAIA affiliation and one being affiliated with the National Christian College Athletic Association. These three institutions have a combined 10-23 record and the Warriors beat the three by an average of 98.6 to 37.3. 

D-II Competition: Against NCAA competition, the Warriors are 3-2, with victories over Findlay, Lake Erie, and Purdue Northwest. The three teams have a combined 9-9 record.
