The Tiffin University volleyball team put on a show in Canton on Tuesday night, dropping the Malone Pioneers in straight sets. The Dragons had a hay day at the net, posting a .350 team hitting percentage.
The Dragons had their best hitting set right off the bat, pummeling the Pioneers to the tune of a .517 hitting percentage. The Pioneers never led in the set as Tiffin roared out of the gate to a 10-4 lead. Malone made it interesting late, pulling within four points at 20-16. The Dragons held the lead and cruised the rest of the way, defeating Malone 25-18.
It was late heroics that saved the second set for Tiffin as the Dragons rolled out of the gate to an early 8-3 lead. Malone chipped away and eventually found themselves on top at 19-17. Tiffin never gave in, rolling to a second set win on an 8-4 run to drop Malone 25-21.
The final set was all Tiffin as the Dragons forced Malone into seven attack errors. Tiffin held a slim 4-3 lead early in the set, but then exploded for a 16-5 run to lead 20-8. The Dragons finished the match with 25-12 third set win and a .484 hitting percentage.
Tiffin was led in kills by Jenna Huffman with 11. She also led the Dragons in hitting percentage with a .579 mark. Sydney Gilland and Amanda Curry each poured in eight kills. Emily Weithman dished out 25 assists, and Taylor Lattimore added 15 digs.
The Dragons move to 11-10 overall and will be back in action on Friday, hosting GLIAC foe Northwood .
