Tiffin University's men's track & field team traveled down the road to Findlay's Flag City Tune-Up on Friday, placing second out of a total of six teams with 133 points.
Friday
The Dragons performed very well in the field events, taking first place in both the triple jump and shot put.
Sheldon McNicholas took top spot in the triple jump, recording a provisional mark of 14.91 meters. He was followed by
Jake Price in third place with a mark of 13.10m. The shot put was won by
Jacob McPherson with a provisional mark of 16.55m.
In the weight throw, McPherson placed second after tossing 20.66m while
Vincent Volpe recorded a throw of 19.36m, both of which were provisional.
Josiah Gadson ended second in the long jump, finishing with a provisional mark of 7.13m, just 0.06 behind the first-place finisher.
The only other event victory for the Dragons came in the 200-meter as
Michael McNeil took top spot in 22.35 seconds. Following in third place was Jarvis Barber Jr. in 22.95. In the 400-meter,
Octavious Joe (51.54s) and
Lucas Lynch (52.04s) placed second and fourth respectively.
The final provisional mark reached by Tiffin came by way of
Cade Carter in the pole vault, placing fourth overall with a mark of 4.76m.
Saturday
The Dragons sent a small group of middle-distance runners to Notre Dame's Alex Wilson Invitational to compete in both the 800-meter and the mile events.
Dalton Gleeson took fifth place in the mile with a time of 4:09.58 and in the 800-meter,
Lewis Cotterill (1:51.59) and
Nathaniel Ondracek (1:51.88) finished seventh and eighth respectively.
